Public Lecture: Columbus - His Expedition, His Men and His Guns

New York, NY (October 24th, 2011) - The Explorers Club invites you to a colorful slideshow presentation about “The Great Explorer” Christopher Columbus, who has been universally depicted in history as a venturesome sailor with a compass, an astrolabe, a dream and a gun. In fact, Columbus had a collection of guns. Speaker Rodney Brown will discuss the weapons he used in 4 voyages, including his battles with the Taino Indians; the verso cannons excavated from the Jaina River, as well as the exciting new discovery of the heraldically gold-silver adorned matchlock, Espingole, that some scholars believe may have been Columbus’ personal gun.
