New York, NY (December 5, 2011) - Ira Flatow, the award winning host of the NPR's popular sci-tech show Science Friday, will discuss the difficulties of presenting science and technology to a public that loves to talk about science, but cannot get enough of it through conventional channels. He will explore the challenges of a public that is uneducated in this issue, of a new congress where many lawmakers do not hold much faith in the power of science, and an extreme religious movement that believes the earth to be no more than 6,000 years old. Despite these challenges, Flatow will prove that the general public still enjoys hearing the news about this topic, and that is being "rediscovered" by the popular media through its thematic omnipresence in films, theatre, and the arts. Due to the high tech world of computers and medicine, science itself has become a topic of discussion once more. It has become "sexy."
